Meth addiction statistics show that it is nearly impossible for a person to be an occasional user of the drug. Once they have tried it they will often continue to abuse meth until they develop a strong psychological and physical addiction to it.
Crystal meth acts on the dopamine receptors in the brain preventing its reuptake, thus allowing an abnormal amount of dopamine circulation in the body. Other body activities that can be affected with the use of crystal meth are appetite suppressant, heart rate, body temperature and response associated with alertness.
Dental patients who exhibit symptoms of "meth mouth" are more likely to be injection drug users, according to a new study.
Using meth can cause many of the same physical effects as other stimulants such as: increased physical activity, increased wakefulness, increased respiration, decreased appetite, rapid heart rate, irregular heartbeat, increased blood pressure and hyperthermia.
