Amphetamines similar to meth first came to America in the 1930s. Abuse of amphetamine sulfate (Benzedrine) and dextroamphetamine (Dexedrine) pills became prevalent during the 50s and 60s. Meth is also known as crank, chalk, crystal, tweak, speed and ice just to list a few.
A current survey found that 45 states reported a 90% increase in Meth-related crime from 2004-2007.
