When meth users repeatedly abuse meth it weakens the dopamine release mechanism in their brain causing them to rely on meth to feel normal.
High-intensity meth users are the addicts often called speed freaks. Their primary goal is to prevent their inevitable crash (coming down from a methamphetamine high). Today, meth has become more popular than cocaine among persons 18 years and younger. A recent study reported that teenagers perceive meth as safer, longer lasting and easier to buy than cocaine.
