The data for the California State Fiscal Year 2001-2002 through State Fiscal Year 2004-2005 shows the percentage of clients admitted with a primary meth problem increased from 26.2%to 34% of all clients.

As the high from meth wears off users will seek and use more of the drug to recapture the state of pleasure, or to just feel "normal" again. This begins the never-ending cycle of meth use resulting in physical dependence on the drug.
